Not so many years ago we were in the shoes of the students we now travel with. Working on LK's summer programmes has let me help them find answers to the same questions I had when I was young and travelled abroad for weeks with people I didn't know.

Travelling all over the world for work is always rewarding. For me, the best part is the end of the trip, when you see the parents hugging their children and hear them say "thank you" for such a great experience. To get there we have to train and work hard, and perhaps that is rewarding too: seeing the results of a lot of work.

After a full school year travelling with students to several cities in England and Ireland, I can say that a Ministay® is one of the best jobs in the world!

It helps you grow both professionally and personally. Working with teenagers abroad, I have gained empathy, social skills, confidence and the ability to adapt to all kinds of situations. I have also been able to travel, discover places and cultures and meet wonderful people.
Above all, I would highlight helping the students grow during their language immersion. In a short time they gain maturity, independence, adaptability and confidence, and they discover that languages are not just for passing exams but a door to other cultures and realities.
You grow very fond of them (and they of you!), and it makes you proud to see how much they learn and grow. Their goodbye hugs at the airport and their words of thanks are the best souvenir of every trip.

WeekCamps® are a wonderful experience with children: even if only for a short time, you share their daily life, get to know them better, play, have lunch, snacks and dinner with them… So you are not only teaching them English through games, activities and sports, you are building a bond that enriches both sides, and you get to improve the language too. In short, you learn with them.

If I had to highlight one thing, WeekCamps® have made me better at teamwork (all of us group leaders need to be coordinated, get on well and stick together…) and helped me enjoy working with children, which I think is essential for a good immersion. They have probably also made me more resourceful, which is a must in a job where you plan activities at short notice and there can always be a last-minute change or a problem.
One of the most rewarding things is knowing that you are giving the children something directly, whether they are having fun with you or you have taught them something new in English. You notice it more being with them every day, and at the goodbyes, when they let you know. Personally, the most rewarding part has been meeting a great group of people I really enjoy working with.
